Presentation: Tweet"NFC - Not For Children?"
Actually, it's Near Field Communication: smart cards that can be powered via radio a field to exchange authenticated data within milliseconds. There has been a lot of talk about it recently, but Japan is at least 5 years ahead with Japanese consumers holding over 65 million phones with built-in NFC chips, and over 100 million NFC cards, which they can use at over 1 million access points, such as pay stations or train ticket gates.
I will give an overview of the existing technology infrastructure and capabilities, plus interesting applications people have built on top of it. Oh, and I'll have a demo, too.
